RPH Welcomes New Leaders
River Parishes Hospital welcomes two employees to leadership roles: Vanessa Donnell Peters, R.N., B.S., MHS, Chief Nursing Officer, and Michele Pomes, RN, MSN, CPHRM, Director of Employee Health/Risk Management.
Vanessa Donnell Peters, R.N., B.S., MHS
Vanessa brings with her more than 28 years of nursing experience of which 18 are in a management capacity. She most recently served as the Chief Nursing Officer at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia and as the Chief Nursing Officer at The Memorial Hospital of Salem County in Salem, New Jersey and The University of Louisville Hospital.
Vanessa received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and performs extensive work in church ministries.
“I am elated to be in Louisiana at River Parishes Hospital and have received a very warm welcome,” said Vanessa. “I look forward to working with the clinical teams here and making a positive contribution to healthcare delivery in the River Parishes.”
A native of Yazoo County, Mississippi, Vanessa currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky. She has three adult sons, Clifton, a computer engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christopher, a math and science teacher in Louisville, Kentucky and Corey, a professional athlete in Atlanta, Georgia.
Michele Pomes, RN, MSN, CPHRM
Michele brings with her over 15 years of experience in healthcare and seven years experience in healthcare management. She previously served as the Risk Manager and Patient Safety Officer at Tulane Medical Center and as the Manager of PI, Patient Safety, Infection Control and Human Research Program at Tulane. In addition, she served as the Circulator and Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse at River Parishes Hospital.
Michele received a Master’s Degree in Nursing and in Healthcare Systems Management at Loyola University of New Orleans and received her professional certification in Healthcare Risk Management from the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management in Chicago. She is a member of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
“I am excited to be a part of a great leadership team that emphasizes healthcare transparency to improve healthcare services,” said Michele. “My goal at RPH is to utilize my learned and acquired skills in process improvement and risk management to improve patient care and service excellence that will be recognized by all citizens in LaPlace and the surrounding parishes.”
A native of Jefferson, Michele currently resides in Kenner.
